The thing that kills me (I'm in Virginia now but got my biology degree from FSU - my parents are in Jax) - is that the "news" is kind of acting like there's an upside to the drilling in general. I saw a report about all of the fish that make homes on oil rigs. I just cannot express how angry that made me. Use junked cars (like in the Keys) to create artificial reefs if you need them. To report mainstream news about the wonderful benefits of oil rigs is just shameful. It's almost like they are trying to make it seem less awful. You know, like BP is an advertiser or something. Oh, right...

I love your blog because of your beachy themes and stitching so I had to come out of the woodwork.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6487456.post-90073359563719283112010-05-17T22:12:48.874-05:002010-05-17T22:12:48.874-05:00Melissa I think you are so right about small chang...Melissa I think you are so right about small changes. I have been trying to convince my DH we should get wood floors instead of carpet because most carpet is made from petroleum products.

BP frustrates me because they continue to minimize the oil spill. It's just terrible watching the news.Katrinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17751627785449667223noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6487456.post-46219937305792372672010-05-17T21:31:22.602-05:002010-05-17T21:31:22.602-05:00Again... well said!

Congress wants to act as though they are somehow "there for us" in the midst of this crisis. Really??? Maybe if our government hadn't been in bed with Big Oil for SOOO many years (BOTH parties, no matter what their spin doctors would try to sell you), we would already have an alternative and usable fuel source (I dunno... Wind? Solar? Hydrogen? Corn???) to crude. You can try to tell me until you're (and by "you" I mean Big Oil and the government) blue in the face that no viable alternative is available... but I'm telling you right now that if they expect us "plebeians" to believe that with the brilliant scientific minds that are out there "no one" can come up with (or has already come up with) something else.. well. It is pathetic.

Yet another example of how our governing body continually forgets who put them in power, and who they are working for.

Ugh. I could go on and on, but I'll restrain myself.MyLifesAStitchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10759662056886022108noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6487456.post-21927540141296969282010-05-17T12:10:31.761-05:002010-05-17T12:10:31.761-05:00The BP people are liars and fakers and unfortunate...The BP people are liars and fakers and unfortunately our government has been in collusion with them for many years. We won't know the long term effects of this terrible spill for years to come.

I am the proud wife of a husband who mows our little acre with an old fashioned reel mower, rides his bike to work almost everyday and refuses to use chemicals on our lawn and garden. I am a lazy girl and still drive to work and I don't know if I would be willing to push that mower, but I don't feel the need to use a leaf blower to clean the driveway like my neighbors do. Maybe every little bit will help.Barbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17101990651665004627noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6487456.post-76383138294461062972010-05-16T22:36:52.395-05:002010-05-16T22:36:52.395-05:00I am totally disgusted with the whole industry. It really is sad that this incident happened and we're going to the beach as much as possible, but I too am angry that they are getting away with throwing whatever into the Gulf without considering the longer term ramifications. It's bad enough to pour oil in, but compound that with chemicals. GRRRRR! It's irresponsible and should have been illegal. They need to be stripped of their ability to EVER do this again.MamaLadyBughttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09894033667893450443noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6487456.post-1362340948681157542010-05-16T16:39:35.411-05:002010-05-16T16:39:35.411-05:00I've come to the conclusion that you can't...I've come to the conclusion that you can't believe what corporations have to say as they'll do anything to make themselves look good. And I don't own a car--not something I know most people can get away without having, but I'm all for limiting gas and oil use. What a complete waste of resources and the Gulf of Mexico will never be the same sadly.Daniellehttp://www.danitorres.typepad.com/peacockfeathernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6487456.post-10844497529436983272010-05-16T12:33:35.005-05:002010-05-16T12:33:35.005-05:00I think it would be appropriate to require the BP ...I think it would be appropriate to require the BP people and all their flunkies including the government regulatory people who were doing what? while this happened, to sit down to a nice big fish dinner, straight from the Gulf.Glennahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02331252407069170477noreply@blogger.com
